How To Avoid Jet Lag

Posted by Learn More | 8:11 AM

The next time you cross more than a few time zones, try going without food to minimize the effects of jet lag. Researchers believe that fasting can help you adjust to time differences more quickly.

Of course, this theory has been tested only on mice, so your mileage may vary. (Personally, I’d rather deal with a little sleep deprivation than starve to death.) Here are a few proven tips for combating time-zone fatigue:

* Start living by your “new” schedule several days before your trip, to help yourself adjust faster.
* Eat meals that are rich in high-quality proteins, while being low in fat, calories, and, especially, sodium.
* Make rest a priority, before and during your trip.
